First Night Out-Mission Trip 2010

Yes, this year's mission trip is started and we've completed the first leg of our journey. We began the day with a great service at the church with Richard giving a great message. It was an impressive sight having everyone on stage for our commissioning.

John Markham's Sunday school class graciously provided lunch for our mission team and their families. Thank you to all who helped. And a special thanks to Dotti for her generosity.

We had a goal of dinner in Louisville and stopping for the night in Nashville. So far mapquest has been right on the dot for time estimates. Other than a missed turn for our dinner stop, we hit all the distance estimates. We're settled in for the night at the Super 8 and plan an 8:30 takeoff to arrive at camp around 1 pm

Things we've learned today: Kids still bring cell phones-One cell phone dicovered (more to be found I am sure); ipod touch's have texting capabilities but no phone (is that violating the spirit of the no "phone" policy?); 64 ounces of water will lead to early potty stops (but Austin is hydrated); "the best thing to do is buy new socks and underwear before the trip, that way you know you have enough", Rob Johnson (apparently, Jane doesn't pack for Rob); fuzzy slippers are essential to complete a supergirl ensemble (it's either a junior high thing or just a Madison thing),

Thanks for praying. I'll blog you later.

Sounds like you are having tons of fun already...I think your should come up with some creative way to enforce to no cell phone or texting policy!!!

yes, the Ipod touch violates the spirit of the no cell phone rule. It's not like any of them actually talk on their cell phones anyway, they are just for texting.
